Entertainment - Musicians and/or DJ

12 months before the wedding organise and book your entertainment.  When deciding on the type of entertainment check out your guest list.  In most cases having a DJ is the better option as the music can be varied according to taste and the reception that is being  catered for i.e. Early afternoon or evening.

It may be better to split the entertainment and have musicians for the wedding reception and a DJ for the evening reception.  Consider also the services of a magician for entertainment at the various tables.

Check out your DJ in advance by seeing him in action and preferably pick one that has had experience at wedding receptions.  Ensure that you have booked him for the whole evening and that this has been made clear.

Ask him what he provides in the way of music and lighting and ensure that there are no hidden extras.  Remember also that he has to cater to a variety of tastes so make sure his music is wide and varied.  You don’t want the party to fall flat on it’s face due to rubbish music and an empty dance floor.

Two to three months before the wedding make sure you have confirmed everything in writing.

Two to three weeks before the wedding confirm any last minute details along with arrival and delivery times.
