Wedding Cake

12 months before the wedding start thinking about the cake and decide who is going to be making it.  Arrange a date to discuss all the details with them.

There are many designs out there and some brides will find a cake that will jump out at them but either way a good cake maker will be able to design a cake or adapt a design to meet your requirements especially if you are having a themed wedding.

There are a number of factors to be taken into consideration before finalising your decisions on the design.

Season - think about the temperatures at the time of the wedding.  Nobody wants to see chocolate dripping down the side of the cake on a hot summer’s day.

Size - think about the number of guests you are having at the wedding as this will determine the size of the cake and how many tiers.

Flavour - gone are the days when the bride had to have the traditional wedding fruit cake.  The list of flavours out there is endless.  Check with the cake makers and ask their opinion on the success of different cakes.

Sample - Ask the cake  maker if you may sample the cakes on offer. It is no good if the cake looks wonderful but is dry and tasteless.

Two to three months before the wedding make sure you have agreed  everything in writing with the cake maker.

Two to three weeks before the wedding confirm any last minute details along with arrival and delivery times of the cake.
